Buying a yurt

It is not without good reason that there are still millions of people living in Yurts and Gers across Asia in the harshest and most extreme of weather conditions. As shelter from those elements and as the perfect nomadic home they work incredibly well and have done so for over a thousand years, there are even people living in them all year round across Britain and Ireland, so it's fair to say they work in our joyous weather too.

The poles we use to make up our frames with have been cut from a neglected Ash plantation that was put in to replace trees brought down during the Great Storm of 1987 which devastated much of the woodland in the South East. Because none of the trees have had time to reach maturity we are able to work the woodland using only traditional tools and practises ie. Saws, billhooks, rope and muscle. Having been left to find their own way and not farmed and selected for straightness means that the poles we use are far from straight and symetrically ÔperfectÕ which is reflected throught the very organic feel of our structures. It also means that whilst the essential strength of our yurts is not compromised at all we can say with some certaintity that each of them is in its own way unique. Nor is there any compromise in the finish we put on our frames or in sourcing our canvas' which are the very best quality that we are able to supply.

All our Yurts come supplied with a canvas door and fitted groundsheet.
