At Future Roots we believe that a sustainable way of life can be achieved using low impact methods and that the perfect structure to embrace this way of life through is the Yurt.
For most of the people around the world who own a yurt they are
a home (the mongolian word for these structures ‘Ger’ translates literally
as ‘home’) and provide year round protection from weather as diverse as
–50C. in the storm force winds of Mongolia to the warmer wetter joys of
Western Europe.
We started to build yurts in 1998 using poles that came from a
piece of neglected woodland in Stanmer Park near Brighton. The nature of
this woodland means that we have good access to poles of the perfect size
and shape to build unique yurt frames and that in thinning out the woodland
we are providing a healthier habitat for all the flora and fauna left behind.
Working with wood dictates a certain pace to life, a tree grows
slowly is selected and cut carefully and finally becomes something new and
worthwhile only because time has been taken over its manufacture. We have
embraced this gentle, proper pace and feel that our yurts carry with them
that atmosphere whether you are buying or renting one from us.
