Since its genesis in the seventies, in vitro fertility treatment, or IVF, has come an extremely long way. While there always remains a risk that the procedure will not be successful, today the chances of achieving the required outcome are very much higher than they used to be.
This is very good news for keen parents-to-be since the IVF treatment cost is astonishingly high. Very few couples are able to afford to pay for the procedure outright and most people turn to their insurers to cover at least a portion of the bill.
Because IVF treatment comes with such a hefty price tag, couples taking part in the process are invariably intensely committed to taking all the steps necessary to improve their chances of a successful pregnancy. These involve hormone injections, multiple visits to the doctor and a good deal of careful financial planning.
Once the implantation has taken place, potential parents find themselves with a good deal of waiting to do. There are progesterone injections to be administered and plenty of healthy living adjustments to be made in the interest of success, but basically, the period between the procedure itself and the pregnancy test a little while later simply needs to be endured.
IVF treatments are extremely pricy but, while success cannot be guaranteed, the procedure has gradually become better over the years. Potential parents find themselves forking out a very large sum of money, but the chances of pregnancy are higher.
